As a global community we need to be concerned about the way we use water, what we put into our water and the over reliance on imports and exports of oil. Our group used PEPS as a framework to analyze the issue of toxic waste and oil spills as a global issue.

Physical

The physical aspects of toxic waste and oil spills includes its impact on natural resources and the environment such as land mamals mammals birds and fish. Oil spills are made from liquid petroleum which are is from large tankers and factories located around the world.  As a global community we rely heavily on oil as an energy source; as a result, we import and export large quantities of oil across the ocean.  This increases the risk of accidents of oil spills.  Hundreds of millions of gallons of oil end up in the oceans each year.  Oil spills can ruin life and can cause changes in the marine life in oceans and life on land.  Oil spills cause birds to die because the oil sticks to their wings; therefore they are unable to survive.  To save the birds, people use biological agents like bacteria and micro organisms which are released into the water to clean up the oil.  Living things would not be in danger if people did not rely on oil as a main source as of energy.  There are alternative forms of energy like wind and solar energy, which are environmentally safe.

Economical

The Economical issue for the usage of oil spills is that many large tankers pass by leaving big spills of oil all over our oceans. This causes many issues for many different peoples and creatures for example the large amount of oil put into the ocean kills many helpless fish which also effects large corporations who catch the fish and sell it to us.Some people lose money and their jobs because some peoples jobs are catching fish and selling them in markets but since the fish are decreasing because of the oil spills people are losing their jobs. Burning the oil gets rid of the oil but causes air pollution. Since decomposing the oil , it takes too much money, people just dump it illegally into the water.

Political

When oil is dumped into the ocean it damages the ecosystem. When large tankers pass by they some times leak oil into the ocean this causes the fish to die. Some time's when countries are at war they some times dump oil into each others ocean's witch can cause severe damage to the ocean's ecosystem, and fishing industrys.The people  are depending on the goverment to stop this crisis goverment dosen't support the people.Toxic waste is being spilled in the oceans and and this is poisonous materials and this is the most harmful form of pollution to sea life
People who fish as a recreation and as a time to socialize with their grandchildren can't fish because the toxic chemicals are killing much of the fish poppulation

Some times tourist want the countries attention they pour dump oil into the ocean purposely. The more oil goes into the ocean the less fish the big companies have to inport too us. This can also effect the tourist because who would want to go on a beach with dead fish and birds laying there.The tourist industriy is losing money witch causes the country to lose money as a result parents can't send thier kids to school,and thier kids get no education for jobs, so they will have to work in factorys.
